Our Mount Morris Indoor Track team put on an outstanding performance at sectionals, with multiple athletes securing top finishes and breaking records. The Blue Devils showcased their talent across various events, proving their dedication and hard work throughout the season.
Girls’ Highlights:
Abby Provo had a standout day in the throwing events, placing 5th in shot put and 4th in weight throw while once again breaking her own school record. Morgan Luick also had a strong performance, earning 4th place in high jump, and Holly Lin secured 6th place in the 55-meter hurdles.
Boys’ Highlights:
The boys’ team saw incredible performances, with Yasi Malave leading the way. Yasi won the 1000-meter run, setting a new personal best and school record. He also secured 3rd place in the mile, proving his versatility and endurance.
Matt Bacon added to the team's success by placing 2nd in high jump and 6th in long jump. Robbie Lonsberry contributed with a 6th-place finish in high jump, while the boys’ 4x800-meter relay team—consisting of Robbie Lonsberry, Cam Husting, Logan Martin, and Troy Johnson—fought hard to claim 6th place.
Looking Ahead:
With sectionals in the books, Yasi Malave’s season isn’t over yet. His first-place finish in the 1000-meter run earned him a spot at State Qualifiers this Friday at Nazareth. He will have the opportunity to represent Mount Morris at the next level and continue his incredible season.
The entire team has shown tremendous dedication and perseverance this season, and their results at sectionals reflect their commitment to excellence. Congratulations to all the athletes on a fantastic meet, and best of luck to Yasi as he competes for a chance at states!
