The Mount Morris Fire/Rescue Department will be holding their annual Halloween Party on Monday, October 31st! The event will take place outside at 119 Main Street (Old Mount Morris Fire Hall) from 5:00 - 7:00pm. Treat bags will be given to Trick or Treaters by each organization and participating downtown business! This event is sponsored by Mount Morris, Mount Morris Partners for Progress, Mount Morris Rotary Club, Mount Morris Ambulance and the Mount Morris Police Benevolent Association.

Congratulations to our Athlete of the Week, Payton Bownds! Last week Payton scored 3 goals in the boys’ soccer quarter final sectional game. The boys won the game 8-0. Payton is a captain on a very good team and one of the main reasons for their success. His leadership, work ethic and strong play are amazing. Payton has 15 goals and 4 assists on the season,” said Coach Connolly.
We would like to give a big thank you to Fabian Ramirez @debtfree for visiting MMCSD today! During our Red Ribbon Week assembly for students in grades 7-12, Fabian spoke on drug and alcohol prevention, anti-bullying, the importance of reporting bullies and all the reasons kindness matters!
Our Varsity Boys Soccer team defeated Hinsdale yesterday with a score of 5-0, advancing them to compete for a sectional title! They will now play in the class D-2 sectional final game! Congratulations, team! Jack Lonsberry had 3 assists and scored 1 goal. Navier Ford scored 2 goals. Payton Bownds and Ben Bacon each scored 1 goal. Aidan Stanley had 6 saves in net for his 6th shutout of the season. We will now play in the finals vs Houghton at Perry High School this Friday, October 28th at 5:00 pm. Payton Bownds scored 3 goals and Navier Ford scored 2 goals and added an assist. Ben Bacon and Jack Lonsberry each had a goal and 2 assists. Chase Young scored 1 goal and Mason Santini and Owen Yencer both had an assist. Aidan Stanley had 5 saves in goal for the shutout. For Veterans Day this year, we would like to start a new tradition with our students, faculty, and staff. We are asking all school community members to share a photo of a loved one who is or was a member of the Armed Forces. Attention MMCSD Class of 2023! Students interested in attending any college are invited to the second annual Virtual Financial Aid Night hosted by GCC! The presentation will cover the purpose of financial aid, the different aid applications and how to apply, the various aid programs, and what to expect during the financial aid process. Today, October 18th, the Save A Life Tour came to MMCSD for the first time ever! The Save A Life Tour is a nationwide comprehensive high-impact safe driving awareness program that informs, educates, and demonstrates the potentially deadly consequences resulting from poor choices and decisions made by the operator of a motor vehicle.
Students in grades 9 through 12 learned about the dangers of impaired and distracted driving including texting while driving, sleep deprived driving, reckless driving, driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. The program highlighted how a brief lapse of judgement, even just a few seconds can result in serious injury or loss of life.
After the presentation, the tour included the use of two driving simulators to show students the dangers of driving while either distracted or under the influence of drugs or alcohol. In one simulation, students had to hold a cell phone and try to respond to texts while driving on the road. In the other, students wore a virtual reality headset and had to drive around for three minutes as impairment levels steadily increased.
A video was presented to all of our JH/SH students about driving while impaired. This video showed accident scenes and what car crashes can look like while they are happening. Real families who lost loved ones in car crashes shared their stories as well.

The American Red Cross will be holding a blood drive at MMCSD on Tuesday, November 8th from 8:30 am – 2:30 pm in the Auditorium. The drive is open to the public and a photo ID is required. This blood drive is being hosted by the MMCSD National Honor Society and Key Club!
