At MMCSD, elementary students are recognized for receiving character awards, reading awards and for going above and beyond in the school by being able to choose a book from our book vending machine!
Our boys varsity basketball team extended their winning streak to 7 games following their win over Keshequa with a score of 80-48! Bryson Constantino scored 24 points with 6 three-pointers. Mason Santini had 16 points with 9 steals, 6 assists and 5 rebounds. Aidan Stanley had 8 points. Anthony Hightower, Luis Crespo, and Chase Young each scored 6 points. Matt Bacon, Shawntez Brown, and Owen Yencer each added 4 points. Congratulations, team! Our next game is today at 7:00 pm at Letchworth High School.
Congratulations to Eliza Lonsberry (11th grade) for being elected to the position of Lieutenant Governor (LTG) for Key Club, Division 23! This is an extremely prestigious position where Eliza will lead all of the Key Clubs in our area. There are currently 9 clubs in Division 23. Her term will begin on April 1st. As part of her role, Eliza will provide service, support, and communication to the clubs, coordinate and lead divisional council meetings, and coordinate and lead divisional rallies and training. Eliza will serve as a member of the board of trustees and will also provide support to club presidents. Just as the club president is the leader of the club, the LTG is the leader of the division. If you see Eliza, please congratulate her on this tremendous accomplishment and honor! We are proud of you, Eliza!

We are excited to introduce the Lunch Box Buddy Program to MMCSD! If your child brings a packed lunch from home, they can still go through the lunch line to pick up a snack and choice of milk to go with what they already have. There is no charge to families for this program. Snack options include a fruit, vegetable, whole grain snack or a cheese stick.
Congratulations to our Perfect Attendance Award Winners for the month of January, Adiari Camacho (11th grade) and Braiden Coffey (7th grade)! In addition to having perfect attendance, Adiari is always positive, polite and comes to school ready to learn. She is also on the Varsity cheer team. Braiden, along with having perfect attendance, is always respectful to others and shows up to each class prepared and ready to learn. He also plays on the Modified basketball team.
Congratulations to our Athlete of the Week, Olivia Kaiser! “Olivia has a great attitude, always wants to try something new and hypes the team up when they need it the most! Her positivity is contagious and she’s an all-around great athlete! She really shines when she performs. I’m grateful to be able to coach her and see her grow,” said Coach Mancuso.
Congratulations to both our varsity and modified cheer teams! Over the weekend, Varsity placed first in their division with a score of 55.75 and Modified placed second in their division with a score of 32.5. “When the Varsity girls said they meant business, they meant business! After winning at Canandaigua, they seem hungrier than before. They love what they do and their effort is showing. Congratulations ladies, let’s keep up the good work! Modified put in extra work this week and learned some new stunts. They looked really great and I’m happy with how things are turning out for the team. They’re on to great things for sure,” said Coach Mancuso. This Sunday, 2/4, both teams will take the mat at Attica. Modified at 10:00am and Varsity at 2:00pm.
Congratulations to all of our students that were selected to perform at the All-County Festival over the weekend! At this ensemble festival, students from multiple schools throughout the area perform together. “The concerts were excellent, and the students represented Mount Morris very well,” said Mr. Irwin, Instrumental Music Teacher.

Owen Yencer had 12 points. Aidan Stanley had 8 points with 3 steals. Anthony Hightower had 3 points with 10 rebounds and 2 assists. The team will play against Houghton Academy in a home game this evening beginning at 5:30pm.
Key Club will be hosting a Beef on Weck fundraising dinner on Sat, 2/10 (during Coaches vs Cancer Event) from 11am–4pm in the school Cafeteria. Tickets are $10 ea. & can be purchased in advance from any of our Club Members or by contacting Mrs. Stowell at astowell@mtmorriscsd.org
Another big congratulations goes out to our varsity and modified cheer teams! Over the weekend, they competed at the Fillmore Winter Cheer Off. Our varsity team placed first in division two with a score of 63.7! Nikoal Tidd participated in the jump off and received first place. “I’m so proud of how well these group of athletes are performing. It truly feels like they’re putting up a fight this season and standing their ground. Congratulations, ladies, on your three-peat,” said Varsity Coach Mancuso. Our modified team placed second in their division with a score of 36.6! Emma King participated in the jump off and received third place. “Every week they’re improving scores and putting in the hard work. Congratulations, mod squad,” said Varsity Coach Mancuso. Both teams will be performing at Canandaigua CSD on Saturday, January 27th. Modified at 9:40 am. Varsity at 12:50 pm.
Congratulations to both our varsity and modified cheer teams! Over the weekend, they competed against multiple schools at Bath CSD. Our varsity team placed first with a score of 63.1! Senior, Izariah Rowley, was chosen to receive the Schyler Hyer Memorial Spirit Award, and Nikoal Tidd earned first place in the Jump Off category. Our modified team placed second with a score of 35.35! Teaghan Gilg was chosen to receive the Schyler Hyer Memorial Spirit Award. “Both teams were phenomenal in this competition. We are fortunate to have very hardworking individuals so dedicated to this sport. Great job to both teams,” said varsity Coach Mancuso. Our next competition will be on Saturday, January 20th in Fillmore. The time has not yet been announced.
We would like to thank Mrs. Meyers for her demonstration on how to cook gyros with tzatziki in Mrs. Wheelers Family and Consumer Sciences class! The students really enjoyed learning about Greek culture, and everyone agreed that the gyros were absolutely delicious!
Congratulations to our MMCSD school-wide Spelling Bee Winners! 1st Grade – Cadence Piper (Championship Word: Park); 2nd Grade – Kylie Clark (Championship Word: Fireworks); 3rd Grade – Geovani Rivera (Championship Word: Gallon); 4th Grade – Jonas Palma (Championship Word: Fascinated); 5th Grade – Chase D’Agostino (Championship Word: Saucer); 6th Grade – Karsin Bonfield (Championship Word: Provision); Jr. High – Sydney O’Grady (Championship Word: Quarry). Sixth Grade Champion, Karsin Bonfield, and Junior High Champion, Sydney O’Grady, will compete in the Regional Spelling Bee. The champion of the Regional Spelling Bee will advance to the Scripps National Spelling Bee in Washington D.C.
Each month, beginning in January, the Mount Morris PTSA hosts a Family Fun Night event where there is typically an open gym, swimming, food, and so much more! This year, they are looking for some feedback about what our Mount Morris Families would like to see at these events through a short online survey.
