We would like to give a big thank you to the Mount Morris Fire Department! Today, at MMCSD, members of the Mount Morris Fire Department put on a fire safety assembly for students in Pre-k through 3rd grade. We watched video clips about preventing fires, how to stay safe in case of fire, escape routes, and calling 911. Students were then given the opportunity to tour fire trucks! Fire Prevention Week is observed each year during the week of October 9th in commemoration of the Great Chicago Fire. In 1925, President Calvin Coolidge proclaimed Fire Prevention Week a national observance, making it the longest-running public health observance in our country. You can learn how to make your fire safety plan by visiting the National Fire Protection Association website at https://www.nfpa.org/Public-Education. Congratulations to our Division III LCAA Co-Champions! The Mount Morris Boys’ Varsity Soccer Team clinched a tie for the Livingston County Division III Championship last Monday. This is only the 8th time in our school history we have won this championship and the first time since 2018. “This was one of the goals for this season's team, and it was accomplished with a big win over a tough Keshequa team on our Senior Recognition Night! The team has worked extremely hard during the off season and we have prepared ourselves with a tough schedule and a hard in season work ethic. We hope this is the beginning of many accomplishments and a successful post season. We have our sights set on a Sectional Championship!” said Coach Connolly. 4th through 6th grade students recently created beautiful drip art, which is now displayed near the front entrance of the school! This project was inspired by contemporary artist, Jen Stark. Students learned about her mural and sculpture which were commissioned by the Chicago Fashion Outlets while experimenting with different colors to create their own section of a giant drip.

Last week, 8th and 11th grade students attended the Historical Musical Drama “Bombs and Blooms” at the National Warplane Museum in Geneseo. This performance is an original play written by Ruth Henry and follows home front life and the wartime service of a World War II B-17 pilot. After viewing the play, students were able to walk through the B-17, known as "The Movie Memphis Belle."
