Congratulations to our February Elementary School PRIDE Award winners! Our PRIDE word for March is Cooperation.
Mrs. Willey’s 4th grade class has partnered with 4H and the Cornell Cooperative Extension for a special ten-week hands-on plant propagation STEM project called Boots and Blooms. Celeste Carmichael, a PHD candidate with the Cornell Civic Ecology Lab, has been teaching our students how we can "force" bulbs and other plants or flowers to bloom or grow inside during the winter months. Today, Celeste returned for her third visit with Ken Estes, a CCE Ag Educator and leader of the Master Gardener Program for a lesson on plant propagation – making new plants from those available near us. Each week our students also receive special kits to complete at home. Thank you, Celeste and Ken for providing this fun and unique opportunity to our students!
Next week, MMCSD Elementary will be celebrating Read Across America Week with a different dress up theme each day! Monday, March 4th, wear your pajamas and snuggle up with a great book. See the attached image for each day’s dress up theme.
